Ski Touring Boots

When choosing the right ski boots, we must pay attention to their three main characteristics: purpose, size and hardness.
The purpose of ski touring boots simply tells us what kind of skier they are intended for. Touring ski boots are intended for those who go to the snowy slopes on foot or with skis on their feet. The ability to walk, which allows good movement in the ankle, is very important. These shoes are a bit lighter and their sole is clad in rubber. Some are already compatible with ultra-light touring bindings, and automatic crampons can be attached to all of them. With touring boots, even such a long tour is not a problem if the skier is only fit enough.
Freeride ski boots designed for pleasure outside the groomed ski slopes. Usually slightly stiffer boots that work great when skiing all over the snow, on jumps and falls. Their sole is covered in a thin layer of rubber, which allows a safe step, while allowing the skier to contact the ski as directly as possible. The possibility of walking is also common, as it is often necessary to walk to the best starting point for the descent.
The size of a ski touring boot is one of the most important features. The ski boot represents the contact of the skier with the ski, or the medium through which the forces from the skier are transferred to the ski. The size of the ski boot is given in millimeters, which represents the length of the inner boot (i.e. mondo number, 23.0 – 31.0). Thus, when it comes to ski boots, we can simply forget about the classic numbers of boots that we use when buying footwear. You will best choose the right length by measuring the length of your foot and adding 3-5 mm to the measured length.
The hardness of a ski touring boot is usually expressed by FLEX. Flex simply tells us how much force you need to “bend” your ski boot forward. When choosing the right hardness, it is necessary to take into account the strength of the skier, physical condition, skiing method and weight of the skier.
Most good skiers will choose ski boots with flex 100-120, beginners and lighter skiers will choose softer ski boots with flex 80-100. Excellent and aggressive skiers need flex 130. Women’s ski boots are softer because skiers are lighter. Thus, skiers will choose ski boots with a flex of 60-100.
We recommend Movement ski boots, Free Tour for ski tour freerider or Carbon Pro for competitors and pros.
