Fantastic ski tours on the Arctic Circle! Endless ski touring opportunities in Lofoten archipelago. Many fjords in Lofoten Islands are framed by rugged ski touring peaks, which are predestined for classy descents and spectacular views. Wide slopes, deep blue sea and the descent to the water are unique. We will enjoy relaxed atmosphere in comfortable holiday homes, fresh fish and the incomparable Nordic landscape.

In these great natural arenas, we undertake easy to medium-difficulty ski tours. We let ourselves be inspired by constantly changing lighting conditions, moods, perspectives and views. 9 days of unspoiled nature in the north of Norway – ski touring over the fjords – for all SKI touring connoisseurs

The land of the midnight sun, wherewith a view of countless fjords and ancient fishing villages we conquer the peaks on which stood Erik the Red and his Viking friends. On the way down, we draw winds through the virgin mist and end up on the most beautiful beach in Lofoten. In the evening we enjoy typical Norwegian food with plenty of fish and other seafood specialties … Beer in a local fishing tavern is our last stop before we indulge in Aurora Borealis to enchant us forever.

We will be staying in Svolvaer, a town with 4000 inhabitants, and skiing in the near and far surroundings. We will be accommodated in rooms for 2 people, with breakfast and dinner at the hotel.

About Lofoten

Lofoten is an archipelago in northern Norway that is interesting precisely because of its location. Because they lie within the Arctic Circle, they have all the characteristics of the northern lands, and a special climate is given to them by the sea currents that flow around this area – the Gulf Stream, the North Atlantic Stream, and the Norwegian Stream. Lofoten has one of the sweetest climates in the polar region, however, there is no shortage of snow in these places, we usually only run out of time to ski the next peak.

At the same time, the Lofoten impresses us with its unspoiled nature, countless fjords that penetrate deep into the islands. The fishing tradition is strongly anchored in Norwegian culture and its a way of survival since Viking times. Therefore, on our trip, we will not only ski through the virgin fluffy snow and observe with our mouths open one of the most beautiful views in the world. We will visit the best Viking museum in the world – Lofotr Vikingsmuseum, the best-preserved fishing village in Norway – Nusfjord, World War II Museum, which houses parts of the 2nd largest German battleship Tirpitz, which was sunk among the fjords in Lofoten.

FAQ

Where and when do I meet your team?

Our team will wait for you at the airport. If you are arriving by land meeting point is also at the airport or elsewhere if you let us know where (this service is not included in a price). After the meeting, you will be transferred to your accommodation. Please note, that in some areas, due to a long drive to our base, we provide only one transportation per group, usually in the morning (Iceland, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Altai…). So take into consideration that one extra day and accommodation may be necessary.

Where do I meet my guide?

The guide will arrange a specific meeting location and time with you specifically. Most commonly, this location is at your accommodation or our base.

How much hiking up is involved?

There will be approximately 4-6 hours of hiking broken up in the day and approximately 800~1100 vertical meters of skiing.

Do I need climbing skins?

Yes, all of our ski touring tours require uphill travel, and skins are by far the most efficient way. Skins attach to the base of skis or split-snowboards, peel off at the top of the run, and get stowed in a pocket for the downhill fun.

Can I rent equipment?

You can rent equipment, but you need to inform us at least 21 days before the start of your program. Our trips are in remote areas where there are no shops or rental services, so we need to provide them from a distance. Please note that rental on the spot is usually not available.
