About Taurus and Aladaglar
Taurus is a mountain range in southern Turkey, and Aladaglar represents its central, highest part. More than 60 peaks are higher than 3000 m, and the highest is Kizilkaya with 3771m. Altitude 3700 m exceeds alsop two of its neighbors, Demirkazik and Emler. In Taurus there are great opportunities for trekking, climbing and ski touring. The ski season is short, from the beginning of February to the middle of April, but it is really something special. The stark contrast between white snow, blue skies and red rocks is unprecedented.
Itinerary
Day 1ARRIVAL IN ADANA
Arrival at Adana airport, 2 hours transfer to the guest house in the village of Çukurbag.
Day 2SKI TOUR KIRTEKLI (3249 m)
Depending on the snow conditions (about 20 minutes) we enter the Emly Valley. The ascent is first through the juniper forest, then through the valley to Alacha-Berg, the starting point is about 2000 m. Shortly before Mount Aladzha, the steep climb to Mount Kirtekli begins. The descent is through the same valley down to the car. Overnight takes place in a guest house.
Day 3SKI TOUR AVCI BELI (3165 m)
He returns to the same Emly valley. This time we penetrate further into the valley, the ascent leads us to the pass (Avchi Beli). The descent is carried out through the same valley. Overnight in a guest house.
Day 4Ski tour to Mount Emler (3750 m)
Today it opens into a parallel valley through a narrow pass (45 minutes drive). As with other ski tours, the starting point is at an altitude of approximately 2000 m. Then a long valley opens up, at the end of which is the peak of Mount Emler. Descent through the same valley back, with good snow cover, descent to the village. Return to Çukurbag to the guest house for the night.
Day 5TRIP TO GOREME, CAPPADOCIA CULTURE
1.5 hours drive to Ihlara or Guzelyurt. After lunch in the village, we will visit the giant underground city of Derinkuyu, and then take a short walk through the Ihlara Valley, where there are numerous cave churches from the early Middle Ages. Then continue to Goreme, the heart of Cappadocia. We stayed at a cave hotel
Day 6CAPPADOCIA CULTURE
Early in the morning there is the opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon, which is a must for Cappadocia. We visit the Goreme Open Air Museum (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with numerous cave churches. After a walk around Mönchtal we have lunch. We continue to Uchisar Castle and finally to Pasabag with its many fairy chimneys, landmarks of Cappadocia. Night in Goreme.
Day 7SKI TOUR TO MOUNT KHASAN (3250 m)
A slightly longer drive (1.5 hours) to Helvadere and Mount Khasan (volcano). The climb goes in a semicircle to the top. Follow the same path down to the car. Return to Goreme, overnight.
Day 8SKI TOUR TO MOUNT ERCIYES (3936 m)
An hour’s drive to the ski center in Kayseri. To make work easier, it is possible to use the ski center’s ski lifts, which take us to a height of 2500 m (from here it takes about 4.5 hours to the top). Otherwise the climb will take about 5-6 hours. The ascent to the mountain is from the north, and the descent is also from the north. Return to the hotel in Goreme.
Day 9TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT, FLIGHT HOME
From Goreme 1 hour to the airport, flight home
